Though not a single prosecution for voter fraud has occurred in Rhode Island in recent memory, a law enacted in 2012 requires all voters in Rhode Island to present photo ID at the polls on Election Day. We supported a repeal of this law, noting that it presents an unnecessary barrier to eligible voters who may not have ready access to a photo ID, and that such laws disproportionately disenfranchise lower income voters, voters with disabilities, elderly voters, and BIPOC voters. Unfortunately, the bill died in committee.
