Two years ago, the ACLU of RI supported the enactment of an important statute which ensures that the Rhode Island Promise Program – which provides free tuition to students attending CCRI – appropriately accommodates students with disabilities who may need more time to complete their studies. We urged that similar language be included in the codification of a bill that would extend a similar program, called the “Rhode Island Hope Scholarship,” to Rhode Island College students. This legislation passed with our suggested amendments.
