One of my favorite banned books is The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. I love it not only as a great work of literature but also because of the important lesson it teaches about how censorship almost always backfires. As Mark Twain gloated to his editor when he learned that a library in Concord, Massachusetts had banned the book as “trash”: “That will sell us another twenty-five thousand copies for sure!”
