Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi ...is my favorite banned book. Stamped, though not a "history book," provides an account of the evolution of racist thoughts and actions by moving chronologically through United States history, focusing on the damaging effects of assimilationists, the harmful depiction of African Americans, and the unfounded justifications of racist policies and ideas. While addressing these recurring themes, Reynolds frequently comments on the binary nature of racists, segregationists, and anti-racists, and sheds light on the development of systems and laws related to the racial inequality and justice issues that plague the United States today. Stamped is highly educational, incredibly thought-provoking, and thoroughly inspirational. Additionally, Jason Reynolds's writing is remarkably engaging and exceptionally captivating for readers of all ages. Stamped is a book that should be on everyone's "need to read" list.
