SNAP Assistance for Ex-Offenders

In an important victory for ex-offenders, the legislature repealed an eight year old law that imposed a lifetime bar to food stamps and cash assistance for people convicted of a drug-related felony. The ACLU had opposed the ban when it was first enacted, criticizing the arbitrary singling out of drug offenses and noting that it could only discourage the rehabilitation of these ex-offenders.
