The ACLU of RI opposed this legislation, which would require non-profit agencies requesting funding from the General Assembly to post on their website various pieces of financial information, including the salaries of the ten highest paid employees and all sources of the organization's funding. We believe that this bill has the wrong focus in regards to the lack of transparency in the General Assembly, which would signficantly invade the privacy of non-profits and also impose signficant burdens on many organizations that seek funds.
