We opposed legislation which would have imposed harsh financial penalties on use of a number of unregistered vehicles like ATVs and dirt bikes – and carry the potential to double or triple these fines if an individual is around others similarly driving unregistered vehicles – and which incorporated questionable forfeiture protocols. This bill inappropriately elevated these low-level traffic offenses and failed to recognize that the behavior that the bill is addressing is already illegal while subjecting offenders to these overly harsh punishments. This bill died in committee.
