RIte Track Access for Undocumented Children (H 7484 & S 2187)

Children who are undocumented have very limited access to health insurance and preventative care services, emergency services, or specialist care, and some families may feel uneasy seeking treatment for fear that their immigration status may be revealed. This legislation would have importantly ensured that all residents under the age of 19 – regardless of immigration status – would qualify for comprehensive health care through the state’s RIte Track program. Unfortunately, while this bill passed the Senate, it died in the House.
