We recently supported a resolution to eliminate the Rhode Island Constitutional requirement that bars individuals from voting in an election (except for President) unless they have registered to vote at least 30 days in advance. The modernization of Rhode Island's electoral process should include measures that maximize the ability for voter participation, and this amendment would allow for this to happen. Removing the 30-day registration requirement could open up the possibility of allowing same-day voter registration, and we support making elections more convenient and accessible for Rhode Islanders.
