We supported critical menstrual equity bills which would guarantee the providing of no-cost menstrual products to all public schools, institutes of higher education, and prisons in Rhode Island. For lower income individuals, the financial burden of accessing these products can force the reusing of products, the use of products for longer than intended, or the forgoing of the products entirely. Ensuring the consistent availability of such products is both an issue of health and dignity, and we urged passage of the legislation.

H 5083 A and S 86 A have both been passed, and will ensure that all public schools will provide free menstrual products.
