We opposed legislation which would make it a misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in prison, for a person between the ages of 18 and 21 to engage in electronic casino gaming, or iGaming. Presently, people between these ages have the right to engage in casino gaming, but the new iGaming law bars them from participating electronically, and it would not be surprising if many of these individuals weren’t even aware of the difference and unknowingly engaged in conduct that, under this bill, carries potential incarceration. Ultimately, there is simply no reason to send young people to prison for this victimless conduct.
