Critical proposed changes to the state’s Fair Employment Practices Act were introduced in two separate pieces of legislation. First, H 7904 would have expanded the definition of “employee” to cover a wider breadth of working personnel, including a protection for “domestic workers” who are currently exempted within the statute. H 7905A also would have made it unlawful for an individual to enter into a non-disclosure agreement as a condition of employment. We supported both of these important bills. While H 7905A passed the House and died in committee in the Senate, H 7904 died in committee in the House.
