As the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted, meaningful access to transportation is critical for all individuals in Rhode Island. This legislation expands the access to a driver’s license to undocumented individuals, ensuring that all residents could make use of safe and reliable transportation to go to work, school, the doctor, or any other necessary locations, and will allow for greater economic mobility for immigrants and would promote road safety for all in the state. Positively, this bill passed both the House and the Senate.
