The Senate took no action on a House-passed bill, pushed by the State Police, to allow police agencies to give lie detector tests to job applicants. Rhode Island’s ban on the use of polygraph tests in employment has been in effect for over 40 years, and evidence of their scientific validity has not improved since then. The ACLU has been instrumental over the years in strengthening the remedies available to applicants and employees for violations of the ban.
