Listed below are a few other bills of civil liberties interest reviewed in prior newsletters that did not make it out of committee this session:

  • A bill to reduce the current minimum sentences contained in some of the state's drug laws.
  • A bill to restrict state and municipal agencies from collecting Social Security Numbers as a condition of providing services.
  • A bill to restrict local police from enforcing federal immigration law.
  • A bill to impose a 24-hour waiting period on women seeking to have an abortion.

A bill to exempt school committees from a requirement in the open meetings law that they publish notice of their meeting agendas in the newspaper.
